To mark the beginning here are some latest news from us:
- S.K. Jindal has been chosen as an Associate Editor of Chest. In Particular, he will take care of the Global Medicine section of the newly shaped Chest.
- D. Behera was awarded the BC Roy Award of Medical Council of India in January 2005.
- Dheeraj Gupta has been elected as the National Delegate from India of European Respiratory Society
- Ashutosh N. Aggarwal has been promoted as an Associate Professor in the department.
- Ritesh Agarwal has been now selected as an Assistant Professor in the department on regular basis.

We got recognition to start DNB course in respiratory diseases. We can take 2 post MBBS candidates and 2 post Diploma candidates per year. It is a small, but significant beginning for us here.

Dr. Balamugesh from CMC Vellore writes:
We are organising a conference on 'respiratory care' on Aug 15th and 16th. The target audience are the respiratory technitians, physiotherapists and nurses. Our HOD Dr.Christopher recently underwent a fellowship from American Association of Respiratory Care. We are having a post-diploma course in advanced respiatory therapy (2 year course with 1 year internship) whose eligibility criteria is BSc in a science subject. Prof. Behera has taken over as Director of LRS Institute of tuberculosis and Chest Diseases Delhi on deputation form PGI, I am sure the institute will achieve new heights under his dyanamic leader ship, Congratulations and all the best!
